Ducan has been supplying deck coverings, coatings and chemicals to the building trade sector for over 30 years, with special attention to protecting subsurfaces against the harsh effects of weather.
Our vinyl dek-master system is easy to install, and. depending on the size of deck, most installs will be completed from start to finish in one day, therefore minimal loss of time.
Waterproof

Preventing moisture from entering into wood surfaces prevents rot and is why both dek-master vinyl and our adhesive are waterproof.
Applications
The most common applications are for sundecks, balconies, walkways, but other areas would be high moisture areas such as houseboats, mud rooms, around swimming pools, water parks, sauna flooring, laundry rooms, marine flooring, docks, wharves and many others. Dek-Master will also fully adhere to plywood, concrete, fiberglass and most rigid surfaces.
Non-Skid Safety
The embossed pattern of the vinyl offers excellent non-skid properties, providing sure footing even when wet.
Long Lasting
Ducan dek-master vinyl has proven itself! Millions of square feet have been installed from the extreme weather conditions of the high Arctic to the deep south.
Low Maintenance
Dek-Master eliminates the need to paint or stain wooden decks each year. It also eliminates the hazards of wood splintering.
Cooler to the Touch
Of course decks are for walking on even with bare feet. Unlike liquid coatings, dek-master vinyl’s embossed, textured surface and reflective colour pattern, make it only slightly warmer than the air temperature under direct sunlight.
Toughness
Decks, walkways, balconies seem to get more than their fair share of traffic and abuse. Dek-master vinyls will wear extremely well and will not peel, chip or crack!
Colour Fast
Dek-Master vinyls are highly fade resistant to UV light and offer excellent colour fastness to keep that new appearance longer!
Easy to Keep Clean
PVC vinyl has properties that resist mildew and rot, mild acids and alkaline spills, and successfully repel most stain causing products; including sulfides from acid rain. Ducan recommends cleaning with a stiff brush, The Duke a concentrated all purpose cleaner & degreaser and rising with water. For interior applications, flood with water and use wet vacuum system.
Dek-Master Adhesive
Dek-Master Adhesives are the right ones for the job and have been specially developed to be used with Dek-Master Vinyl. Ducan has an adhesive for you, whether it’s our user friendly adhesive for the novice, or a high tack for the professional.
Planning
Plan your deck project well ahead and make sure all materials for construction and finishing are on hand. Keep lumber dry. Build and finish only during a dry spell.
Construction
DEK-MASTER should only be applied on solidly constructed decks. Exterior grade 5/8" or 3/4" sanded one side T&G plywood is strongly recommended. Use only galvanized spiral nails or treated deck screws. A standard 2" x 1" non-return flashing should be installed around the outside deck perimeter, 1/8" EXPANSION JOINTS ARE REQUIRED between plywood sheets. Nail or screw sheets every 6" around perimeter and 12" spacing on center joists. Be sure to have adequate slopeapproximately 1" in 10 ft.
Measuring
DEK-MASTER rolled vinyl sheet comes in 74" width. As with carpeting, fewer seams or overlaps result in a better appearance. To determine the correct amount of vinyl sheeting required allow for:
1. Extra 1" 2" down the flashing
2. Extra 1/2" 1" up the cantstrip
3. Extra 1/2" 1" for each overlap if required
Overlaps may be run parallel or perpendicular to the wall with equal sucess. It is up to the consumer to sketch accurately and measure the deck in order to decide on the most economical way to lay the DEK-MASTER vinyl sheet.
